How to Create shortcuts on the Windows 8 Desktop

Microsoft has made some fairly drastic changes in their Windows 8 user interface.  Some people are cursing it and some are embracing it.  Love it or hate it, it can still be a bit confusing to accomplish things you’ve known how to do since Windows 2000.  One common thing we hear at TVNT is, “I need to create a shortcut on my desktop and I can’t figure out how to do it!”

End of Support for Windows XP and Office 2003
